15 Jul Expanding Hope Groundbreaking

We gathered shovels, hard hats, and full hearts to celebrate a huge milestone in the history of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston – the groundbreaking of our long-anticipated expansion.

This project has been a labor of love for years, and seeing it officially begin was nothing short of emotional. Surrounded by board members, community partners, healthcare leaders, longtime supporters, and current and past families, we broke ground on a new chapter that will allow us to say “yes” to more families when they need us most.

As Charleston continues to grow as a hub for world-class pediatric care, we know that more and more families are traveling here in search of healing and hope. Our expanded House will help meet that need, providing a warm bed, a home-cooked meal, and a support system just steps from the hospital.

This new space will be more than bricks and mortar. It will be a place where siblings can play, parents can rest, and families can find strength in one another. It will reflect the same love and care that our current House has offered for decades, just with more room to welcome those who walk through our doors.
