What is the Junior Board?

Reinstated in 2024, the Junior Board’s mission is to promote leadership, community awareness, and philanthropy among our local youth. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston formed the Junior Board in 2007. The Junior Board is a group of Junior and Senior High School students committed to creating meaningful avenues of support for families staying at RMHC Charleston. Students learn firsthand the various forms that philanthropy can take by participating in meaningful service and fundraising activities. Junior Board 2024-2025 raised over $5,000 for the House. Members will be eligible for 3 different scholarship awards at the completion of their term:

Leadership – $1,000
Visionary – $750
Pacesetter – $500

Becoming a Junior Board Member

Members of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston Junior Board are aspiring leaders in their communities. Members must be Junior or Senior High School Students within the board year they apply for and commit to the program for the entire school year.

Want to be a part of our Junior Board and serve as an ambassador to the families we help? Interested members must fill out an application. There will be a maximum of 25 members each school year.

All applications may not be accepted into the program.

Member Activities:

Group Service Activities: Meals That Heal Program, program events, and special projects that provide direct benefit to families of RMHC Charleston.
Fundraising: Collective activities that generate direct financial support for the agency.
Ambassadorship: Representing the charity at community events to recruit new members and/or educate the broader community about the work at RMHC Charleston.
