How You Can Help
The Ronald McDonald House is supported through the donations of
individuals and businesses. Gifts at all levels make a difference to our
families. From volunteers saving pop tabs to sponsorship of a room,
each donation helps provide a warm, welcoming home to families of
seriously ill children.
Here are some of the many ways you can
help families:
Share A Night:
The cost to house a family for the night at the Ronald McDonald House is $50.00. Our Share A Night program helps cover operating expenses, one family at a time. A donation of $1250.00 will cover the cost of all 25 families for one night. Every donation makes a difference and is greatly appreciated. While families are asked to make a small nightly donation to help cover part of the cost of their stay, they must rely on continued community support to help them in their time of need. No family is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. Your help with the Share-A-Night program ensures that these families are able to enjoy the comforts of home and eliminate the costly expenses of hotel rooms or sleepless nights in hospital waiting rooms during very traumatic times.

Volunteer:
The Ronald McDonald House Charities could not operate without the generosity of volunteers. There are a number of ways you can be involved as a volunteer and we hope that you will consider joining us in our effort to make the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston a "Home Away From Home" for families of seriously ill children. Consider the amount of time you wish to give. Whether you wish to work weekly, monthly or yearly, we have various ways in which you can donate your time.

Prepare A Meal:
The Prepare a Meal Program puts a hot meal on the table every night for our families. The home-cooked meals are the number one thing our families mention on our satisfaction surveys.

Red Shoe Society:
The RMHC Charleston Young Professionals Group, The Red Shoe Society, is a group of young philanthropic professionals who provide support to the Charleston Ronald McDonald House. The Red Shoe Society volunteers at the House, fundraises for other RMHC programs, and organizes socials and other events to share our mission in the community. The Red Shoe Society Council provides leadership for the Society.

Junior Board:
In an effort to promote leadership, community awareness and philanthropy in our local youth; Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston, SC has formed the RMHC Junior Board, now entering its third year. Eligible applicants will be students entering their junior or senior year of high school and will be actively enrolled in any local public or private school in the Charleston area. Wish List:
The Ronald McDonald House is a house with the same needs as any other House. We maintain a wish list of items from linens to cleaning products to foods. Any item that is donated is one item that we do not need to purchase. Each donation furthers our mission to provide a home for families of seriously ill children. If an item is not on our wish list, please call to discuss your donation. Examples of in-kind gifts made in previous years are: advertising, billboards, landscaping, signs and banners, printing, and office supplies.

Auction Items:
We have several auctions as part of our fundraising each year – an on-line auction in February, an auction with our Golf tournament in May, and an auction with our Lights of Love Open House in November.
